I have come to the end of my tether with my son

He is 15yo and he is a model student, getting 8 / 9 in his mock GCSE's. he is a qualified referee and plays football. no one would believe me if I told them how he acts in our home.
But at home he can turn into a very angry boy. and usually if he does not get is own way. He becomes verbal and physically.
He has upset his sister who now does not what to live in the same house and stops at her boyfriends house. (She is 17)
My wife is hysterical with he behavior.
physically assaults me usually leaving marks
I need some help but not sure where to get it from
Thank you

Hi, I understand that this is a difficult, troubling and upsetting situation. Perhaps you could discuss this situation with your GP, maybe they could refer him to some sort of anger management or counselling to see what's going on with him. Have you asked, when he's in a calm and talkative mood, why he gets like this, if he understands what he's doing to the family with this behaviour. It's good to get their point of view on things to inform how you deal with the situation. If things escalate to physical violence, then we lightly suggest contacting the police, it could be a real wake up call but that's your decision of course. You may find it helpful to read our articles on teenage behaviour. If you feel you need further support please e-mail us at askus@familylives.org.uk or call our freephone helpline on 0808 800 2222.
