My son is 11 year old and he has Asperger syndrome high functioning, when he is concertrating he chews his tongue and i just wanted to know how do I make him stop because I dont want him to get sores in his mouth which will distress him more. Please really need some advice. Bites his knuckle and slaps his ears when he is excited.

Hi, I understand that this is something you're concerned about. However, since you haven't clearly stated what your has then my advice is going to be severely limited (AS could mean a number of things). We suggest you contact your son's doctor and discuss the situation with them. Positive discipline and distraction are usually helpful with these sorts of issues, perhaps have something he can chew on whilst he's concentrating, give him something else he can do when he's excited. You may find it helpful to read our articles on child behaviour. If you feel you need further support please e-mail us at askus@familylives.org.uk or call our freephone helpline on 0808 800 2222.
