Hi my 10yo boy moves into a new school 3 years ago and struggles to make friends ( he has a good imagination and is a bit different from his peers ) last week he was attacked by a student from the school and last night he was hit again by a few of them , the issue is it is there word against his and there were more of them . The school has said they are speaking to the parents to help resolve but tonight he has had abuse on what’s app from them them and loads of drop calls etc. He is upset as the few friends he has are turning against him as there are lies being spread around and the ones who started this keep saying they want to beat him up. Me and my wife have no idea what to do next as we don’t want to make it worse and just want it to stop. He has no real friends left and I feel so bad for him. He acts happy but I can tell it is eating him up

Hi, I understand that this is a difficult and upsetting situation. We suggest that you obtain a copy of the school's anti-bullying policy and their complaints policy, both of which they are required to provide you with by law. Go through the procedures suggested with the school. Perhaps you could show the school the whatsapp messages as evidence of the bullying. If things do not improve he could possibly change classes, even such a small change of environment can help. You may find it helpful to read our articles on general bullying advice, bullying at school and advice for parents. If you feel you need further support please e-mail us at askus@familylives.org.uk or call our freephone helpline on 0808 800 2222.
